Fallen’ O’er
Commissioned by the Abbotsford Convent's Alchemy program
Presented at the Abbotsford Convent 2016
Fallen O'er was a site-responsive commission for the Abbotsford Convent Foundation's Alchemy program. This work had a strong focus on humour, inventive writing, and site- and context-responsive making.
The work drew on a specific Australian lower-middle class experience of Catholic Schooling, together with the Convent’s dark history as one of the infamous Magdalene Laundries institutions which operated within its walls for over a century. Institutions that were responsible for inflicting immense suffering on vulnerable women.
